Little League Urban Initiative Spring Jamboree This Weekend

MPTLL has been asked by Little League International to once again host the Urban Initiative Spring Jamboree.  You can find out more about Little League's Urban Initiative at - http://www.littleleague.org/learn/programs/urbaninitiative.htm

Eight teams from NC, SC and GA will play this weekend on Saturday and Sunday at our fields at Randolph Park.  On Saturday, four games will be played at 10:00 am and four more games will be played at 2:30 pm on Saturday.  Sunday four more games will take place at 10:00 am with a semi-final at 12:30 pm followed by the Championship game at 3:00 pm.

MPTLL needs your help keeping scorebooks for each game, as well as counting pitches, and getting the fields ready.  In total we need 16 people on Saturday at 11:00 am and 2:30 pm and then 16 more again on Sunday at 10:00 am.  If you can help do a game or two, or you can help set up or breakdown, please contact the Tournament Director, as soon as possible.

MPTLL is Giving Back

MPTLL will collect items at closing ceremonies to help two local organizations with their summer needs.

Loaves & Fishes provides a week’s worth of groceries to individuals and families in Charlotte-Mecklenburg who are in short term crises.  Over 56,000 children in Mecklenburg County are living at or below the federal poverty level.  Primary needs include: canned meats, canned vegetables, canned fruit – no sugar added, 100% fruit juice – in plastic bottles, and canned pasta

Freedom School Partners ensures that low-income children maintain or gain reading ability by providing a unique six-week summer program at 16 locations across the CMS area.  The main purpose is to unlock the children's long-term potential by igniting their passion for reading and learning. Primary needs include:  large container color-safe laundry detergent, large bottle dishwashing soap, spray bottle glass cleaner, Lysol spray, liquid hand soap, body soap bars, deodorant, toothpaste/toothbrushes, toilet paper, paper towels, and wipes.

If you are able to donate any of these items then please bring them to closing ceremonies and we will have collection bins located at the concessions stand.  Any and all donations are certainly appreciated.

MPTLL Summer Camps

Baseball Fever Summer Camps were founded by longtime MPTLL coach Zan Copeland in 2002 with the purpose of providing children the opportunity to learn the "winning ways” of baseball in a fun-filled environment. Parents interested in signing up their player(s) for camps this summer can learn more information by clicking here.

Also, MPTLL is proud to partner with Queens University of Charlotte to offer two softball camps during the summer.  Parents can click here to learn more about the different camp dates, times, and location.
